The upper level of our Log Home sleeps two in the spacious master suite’s custom cedar-twig, log bed. The master bath has a two-person jetted tub, two sinks, and a shower built for two in a luxurious room with heated floors and an abundance of natural slate stone. Just outside the master suite is a large loft with two very comfortable futon sleepers that have been converted to permanent beds to accommodate four more guests. The walls of the master suite only extend eight feet and the ceiling soars above — this gives magnificent views of the ceiling lines & custom log supports and it allows in lots of natural lighting… however, as a result, the master suite is not as private as the rest of the bedrooms and bathrooms.
The main level of our Log home has two more bedrooms, a full bath with very large shower, and a half-bath complete with full-size washer and dryer. Both bathrooms have heated floors. The second bedroom sleeps two in a beautiful oversize queen pineapple bed, and the third bedroom will accommodate four more in two sets of log bunk beds. There is a stunning full gourmet kitchen with an island, a vaulted dining area with seating for eight, and a breathtaking vaulted living area with a wood-burning fireplace overlooking the ski hill.
The walkout level sleeps up to six in one large bedroom with an oversize queen bed, and an exceptionally comfortable futon in the living area by the TV. There is also a small but full kitchen and a natural stone bathroom with a jetted tub. All of the floors in the walkout level are heated! You haven’t lived until you have walked on heated floors barefoot! This is not your average “lower level”; there are 30 feet of windows looking out on the ski hill! Just on the other side of Schuss Mountain is the new Tom Weiskopf designed Cedar River Golf Course.
Our home sleeps up to sixteen in ten individual beds:
3 queens, 4 twins, 2 double-futons converted to beds, and 1 double-futon sleeper bed
Enjoy all that Northern Michigan has to offer – downhill skiing on Schuss Mountain, golf at the Legend, the Bear, the Cedar River course, or your favorite Northern Michigan golf resort. Swim indoors or outdoors at the Shanty Creek pools at Schuss Mountain and Lakeview / Summit (sorry, but the Cedar River pool is privately owned). Soak in the 6-person hot tub after a tough day on the links or the snow. Ride snowmobiles all the way to the UP. Or just curl up with a good book in front of a fire.
Shanty Creek is only 30 minutes from Boyne Mountain, and 45 minutes from Traverse City. Enjoy a sunset over Torch Lake (only 15 minutes away and voted one of the ten most beautiful lakes in the world). Sail on Lake Bellaire, or collect Petoskey Stones on the Lake Michigan shoreline. Lake Bellaire is just minutes away, so bring your boat; the launch is only a few miles away! You can swim, or boat the entire “Chain of Lakes” (Torch, Bellaire, Elk, Clam, and Skegemog). Stroll through small-town Bellaire and enjoy the laid-back resort-town atmosphere and local shops.
4WD or AWD is highly recommended during the ski season (or anytime from mid September to late April when snow is a possibility).
Internet Access: Free wireless Internet is available at the Schuss, Cedar River, and Summit Lobbies and at Ivan’s Grill just at the bottom of the ski hill. There is no phone at the home so don’t forget your cell phone.
Enjoy the indoor and outdoor pools, and indoor hot tub and sauna at Schuss Village, and the Summit (as well as our private hot tub at the home) – please confirm hours / days of operation directly with the resort – some resort amenities are seasonal.
